Teaching Kids About Herbs : Chamomile

September is back-to-school, which is usually a stressful our herb of the month is Chamomile!
Just the Facts

  • Plant Description : Chamomile is a delicate-looking plant with tiny yellow and white flowers and small green leaves.
  • Parts to use : Flower
  • Used primarily for : Nervousness, insomnia, stomachache, irritability
  • You can make : Tea, bath, tincture, oil, or salve

  • Herbal Bath : Fill a cloth bag with dried chamomile (about 2 cups) and place into a very hot bath.  Let sit 10-15 minutes (bathwater will cool) and remove before getting into tub.
  • Tension Tea : Pour 1 cup of hot water over 2 tsp dried chamomile and let steep 15-20 minutes.  Strain the flowers and drink.  This can be used for nervousness, irritability, insomnia, and even stomachache.
